Heavy-lift drone as an alternative to a crane

Discover how a heavy-lift drone precisely places payloads where cranes fall short. In this Christmas production, we demonstrate what this technology can mean in real-world practice.

Heavy-lift drone in action: from the North Pole

For our Christmas promotion, the FlyingBasket was equipped with a slightly different payload than usual: a decorated Christmas tree. The challenge was to land a fragile load without damage within a landing zone of approximately 1 m².

What may appear at first glance to be a lighthearted video is, in reality, a strong demonstration of stability and control. Even in strong winds, the drone remained predictable and precise.

Demo payload: decorated Christmas tree. Focus: controlled transport and landing.

What does the Christmas tree have in common with real projects?

The precision of the landing zone, the shape of the payload and its fragility: this exact combination is also seen in real deployments. Think of delicate or shape-sensitive components that must be placed in a controlled manner at hard-to-reach locations.

What we focus on

  • Stable hovering and controlled descent
  • Consistent landing within a small zone
  • Careful handling of fragile payloads

Drone as an alternative to the crane

The video demonstrates why heavy-lift drone deployment is increasingly chosen in practice:

  • More accessible in challenging locations
  • More cost-effective than a traditional crane
  • Permits already in place
  • Reduced risk of workplace accidents

No extreme waiting periods for permits or uncertainty about whether a crane can access the site. With the FlyingBasket, we accelerate the process while simultaneously reducing costs.
